Bio Film
WHAT IS IT ?
A Biofilm is a complex aggregation of Micro-Organisms marked by the excretion of a protective and adhesive matrix - commonly known as EPS (extra-cellular polysaccharide).
WHAT DOES IT DO ?
It provides a protective barrier to shield micro-colonies from being removed by a standard CIP chemical process.
WHAT EFFECT DOES IT HAVE ?
It provides a platform for micro-colonies to access the food or beverage production pathway, which can lead to product downgrade or spoilage.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A BIO-FILM PROBLEM ?
First indicators are a deterioration in product quality, in spite of all mechanical and CIP protocols having passed full validation checks.
Where process plant surfaces are exposed, we have specialty Surface Dye-Test Detectors to reveal a biofilm presence.
Using Leading Edge, Light Detection, Camera Technology, we can also expose infection areas, including inside pipework.
HOW CAN I REMOVE A BIO-FILM INFESTATION ?
This is a specialist operation which we provide with a 100% success record. Depending on the circumstance, we either use an aggressive sanitizer approach or our more favoured route of biofilm specific enzyme treatment. Our Technical Specialists will be more than happy to guide you through what works best for your particular needs.
ONCE REMOVED CAN I PREVENT A RE-OCCURENCE ?
The answer is yes. We can provide you with a preventative treatment program to protect against this.
